Colossians 1:24

So yesterday as we worked through Colossians 1, we came to verse 24:

“Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:24‬ ‭ESV‬‬.  http://bible.com/59/col.1.24.esv

Unless you have studied this passage it should bother you some...  HOW CAN ANYTHING ABOUT CHRIST BE LACKING OR INCOMPLETE?

I encouraged you to pray about this verse and ask the Lord to give you direction and understanding...

I aslo asked you not to research this in Bible commentaries for now, but to look up synonyms for the word “lacking.”  This combined with your prayerful seeking of the Lord will help you to be enlightened by the Holy Spirit...

Please comment on this post with your ideas about what you think this means!

This will be the topic of our teaching on Sunday morning!

Why we partner with Gideons

This past Sunday we were fortunate to have Dale Meyers with is!  Dale is a member of the Gideon’s International, and farms in the Redfield area...

Dale shared pictures and stories of how the Gideons distributed Bible in Kenya, Africa...  He told how many came to faith right away as these Bibles were distributed!

You may listen to Dale’s message by going to the SERMON AUDIO link on our app or web page!

QUESTION:

Why Is it important for Crossroads to give time, attention, prayer and money to the Gideons?

Please post a response...

Out of Control?

Yesterday we discussed Colossians 1:17-20.  Perhaps the key pount was that Jesus holds everything in life together.

“And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:17-20‬ ‭

That has me thinking about my own life. Occasionally my life seems out of control, so a good question for me, and each of us, is:

“WHERE AM I NOT ALLOWING JESUS FULL ACCESS TO MY LIFE THAT IT IS OUT OF CONTROL IN THE FIRST PLACE?”

EVERYTHING is moving toward Jesus

This past Sunday we discussed that EVERYTHING is moving toward Jesus... (based on Co 1:15-16)

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”  Colossians‬ ‭1:15-16

What are both positive and negative implications of this in the life a person who is following Jesus?
